Protein powders are not only good for you, at times they can cause you harm too. Wise people have a reason when they say “excess of anything is bad”. Excessive protein powder can effect your body a number of ways. It will affect your stomach as well as your kidney. Your stomach will be upset for a while creating loose motion or dysentery. Your kidney will have to over work because of the excessive amount of protein powder that had been consumed. The poor kidney will have to process all the nutrients in the protein powder all day long and as result, there will be huge strain on it. Kidneys develop stones from over work. Over consumption of protein powder can lead to a situation where you may have to go to a hospital for the removal of a kidney-stone. It’s true that protein powder is essential for the muscles but staying within the limit of it’s usage is advisable.

You have to look for protein powder that does not contain any calcium or very little calcium if you had kidney problems in the past or a you have that at present. Always consult your doctor and/or trainer in matters like these. The kidney is one of the most sensitive organs in our body. It processes all the nutrients from among all the food we send to the stomach. The kidney really works hard to keep us healthy. If your kidney had a stone in the past, calcium is not desirable. Unfortunately you have to sacrifice the best protein powder, whey powder, because it has calcium in it. Try to get some egg based protein in that case; that will supply the necessary strength to your muscles and at the same time keep your kidney away from calcium. You have to avoid sugar as well. Protein powders that contain some sugar will be able to injure you kidney too.

Like the old saying goes,”excess of anything is bad”; so is the consumption of excessive protein powder. No doubt that protein powder does you good as a dietary supplement, replacing it as a meal on a regular basis can hurt your body. Actually, there should not be any alternative to natural food. Balanced natural diet is nutritious that gives proper energy to the body. Consumption of excessive protein powder could cause your blood to turn acidic. When the blood turns very acidic it draws calcium from the bones. These calcium, formed in little deposits, ultimately gather in your kidneys. If one of your kidneys get affected with the presence of too much calcium, you may develop a kidney stone. You see how one thing leads to another! Too much protein powder will affect the health of your kidney. One more thing. If you don’t work out or are not used to manual labour, don’t consume too much protein powder.

Protein bars have to be the most convenient sports supplement by a mile. As well as being discreet and easy to carry around most protein bars actually provide you with the same amount of protein as a protein shake so by substituting a shake for a bar you aren’t really losing anything. The other benefit of protein bars is that if you shop around for a high quality one you can get some good clean carbohydrates from oats as well making them more of a meal replacement. Perfect for when you’re out and about and do not have the luxury of stopping for a healthy nutritionally balanced meal.

Protein bars can also be used pre or post workout, it’s probably best you try to stick to drinking high protein and carb shakes during this period but protein bars come in a close second for replenishing protein used up during your workouts.

Ever recall an upset stomach episode in your life? What a horrible day it was. Wasn’t it? It all happened because you ate some cheap protein bars and they were probably expired. Since then you have learnt two very important things. Number one: Always check the date of expiration on the product that you are buying, especially when that is going to end up in your stomach. Number two: A cheap product is not always the best product, in most cases it is the worst. If you are conscious about your health, you have to look out for these things. Be careful about the quality and the freshness of the food you are sending to your stomach. A mistake there could upset your stomach and you know the rest. A healthy stomach is essential for the fitness of your body. It keeps the blood circulation normal and body fluids in proportionately balanced condition.

Children need a lot of protein along with other nutrients in their body while they are growing up. If you want your child to stay fit while (s)he is growing up, make sure the diet comprises enough protein. Children that are weak and are lacking interest in any extra curricular activities in school are not fit. They are not fit because they are weak; and they are weak probably because they have shortage of protein in their bodies. I know some kids just don’t want to eat eggs or meat. They are just so fond of cookies and candies. Eating too much candies ruin their appetite for the meal at home. You can let such kids eat protein bars. These protein bars are available in the neighborhood groceries and supermarkets. It is important to have enough protein everyday for a growing child because it gives the body the energy it needs for all kinds of activities. It is this energy that plays a vital role in your child’s staying fit for everything.

Knowing how much protein you need to consume is absolutely crucial. If you don’t give your body enough protein it simply cannot repair any muscle tissue and to put it bluntly you just won’t grow and can even lose muscle … Continue reading →

Knowing how much protein you need to consume is absolutely crucial. If you don’t give your body enough protein it simply cannot repair any muscle tissue and to put it bluntly you just won’t grow and can even lose muscle mass.

The amounts required vary from person to person but the general rule is between 1.2g and 1.5g per lb of body weight. This will put your body in a protein surplus and enable the tissues to be repaired and new muscle tissue built. If you are training to gain mass then getting enough protein each day can be a tough task and you may soon find yourself getting fed up of eating so much food. This is where protein shakes come in, they can provide around 25-35g of protein per serving, by supplementing your diet with a nutritious protein drink you can be sure you get enough protein and you know it’s of the highest possible quality.

Getting enough protein each day is one thing, but taking your protein shakes at the right time is another. Ideally you will want to consume at the most critical times as the shakes give your body a quick boost of readily available, high quality protein.

When you wake up first thing of a morning, this is a perfect time to down a protein shake because your body has been without any nutrients for the whole time you have been asleep and your body is essentially starved.

The next shake should be consumed either just before or just after an exercise session if it happens to be one of your training days. If it isn’t a training day then the second shake should be a casein protein just before bed time. This is a slower acting protein and will keep your body nourished in to the night while you are asleep

Protein is a fantastic nutrient, it is essentially the building block of our body and repairs any damaged muscles and tissue. It can however be used for weight loss and is extremely effective. The way it can help with weight loss is that protein leaves you feeling more full for much longer meaning that on a high protein diet where you consume quality sources of protein regularly you are less likely to snack on other foods.

The other benefit is protein will help you to keep your muscle mass if you are attempting to lose weight, this is crucial as you want to only lose fat and not diminish any of your muscle mass as this could have very negative effects on your health.

Quality sources of protein are from meats such as chicken, turkey as well as fish and milk. Supplementing your diet with protein shakes which use whey protein is also a quick and easy way to get more protein in your diet.
